How to apply for a claim if your vehicle is stolen?

It can happen to the most careful person. Your vehicle may be stolen despite the most stringent security measures. If this happens, here’s what you should do:

  • Inform the nearest police station and the insurance company immediately giving your name, address, policy number and the registration number of the vehicle and take the FIR number from the police station.
  • Obtain a claim form from the company and fill it correctly and completely and submit the same to insuring office.
  • If the RC book is also stolen along with the vehicle, obtain a duplicate book from the authorities concerned immediately.
  • Keep a regular liaison with the police in regard to the progress of the investigation.
  • If the vehicle is not traced after a reasonable period, get a final investigation report from the police to that effect.
  • If the vehicle is traced before the claim is passed and the case is closed, inform the insurance company as well as the police immediately.
